Fathalla Rihan (PhD & DSc) graduated from Alexandria University in 1986 with a BSc in mathematics. In 2000 he received a PhD from the School of Mathematics at the University of Manchester (UK), titled "Numerical Treatment of Delay Differential Equations in Biosciences". Also, he received a DSc degree (Doctor of Science) in "Features of Delay Differential Equations and Their Applications". Among his research interests are numerical analysis, mathematical biology, and mathematical modeling of real-life phenomena with memory, including cell division, population dynamics, infectious diseases, parameter estimation, sensitivity analysis, and qualitative and quantitative analysis of delay differential equations. He has published numerous articles in highly regarded journals as well as a book entitled "Delay Differential Equations and Applications to Biology, Springer (SP), 2021". He has participated in over 100 international conferences. He also serves as a reviewer for the American Mathematical Society in addition to being an editor of many international journals. He has supervised many PhD students and led numerous mathematical biology research projects as a principal investigator. Prof. Rihan ranked among the top 2% of researchers at Stanford University from 2019 to 2025, according to the university. Furthermore, Prof. Rihan specializes in accreditation and quality assurance for higher education institutions. In 2025, he received the Khalifa Award for Distinguished University Professor (Cycle 18) for his outstanding contributions to research and education.
