Research interests

Dr Khan’s main research interests are in oncogenic viruses and tumour biology, in particular EBV and its association with human diseases. His current projects are aimed at understanding EBV latency and how this is perturbed in diseases such as multiple sclerosis and in EBV-associated malignancies. He is also interested in establishing in vivo and in vitro models of EBV infection. His secondary interest is in public health, in particular newly emerging viral infections. He recently completed a summer course in International Public Health in Oslo. Dr Khan has published several dozen publications, many in high impact journals such Lancet, Cancer Cell, Immunity, Brain, Oncogene, J Exp Med, Cancer, Int J Cancer, Brit J Cancer, Am J Pathol, J Clin Pathol, Pathol, Brit J Haematol, J Exp Hematol, and Emerg Infect Dis.
