N2 - This paper presents a fault monitoring approach for five-phase AC motor under motor short and open fault conditions. The proposed circuit monitor faults in the AC Drive, disconnects the drive from the fault in a designed way to keep the motor operating correctly at derated capability. The proposed approach allows using existing solution for open circuit conditions. The paper covers most mechanical & electrical failures in the drive. The effect ofthe winding space on the magnitude and phase of magnetic field under the above conditions are analyzed and presented.
