Abstract

A new sesamin-type furofuran lignan, 2-episesalatin, was isolated from the seeds of Sesamum alatum. Its structure was established as 2-epi-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)-6-(3,4-methylenedioxy-5-methoxy phenyl)-cis-3,7-dioxabicyclo[3.3.0] octane by spectroscopic methods.
