Abstract

A piezoelectrically tunable combline bandpass filter with a measured tuning range of 135% is presented. The filter incorporates a novel parallel-plate capacitor that can be tuned by a piezoelectrically movable electrode. This paper discusses the effects of tuning mechanism on the overall quality factor, return loss, insertion loss, and the relative bandwidth at the mid of the band as a function of frequency across the entire tuning range.
