Abstract

In this paper we consider the problem of an infinitely long annular cylinder whose inner and outer surfaces are subjected to known surrounding temperatures and are traction free. The problem is in the context of generalised theroelasticity theory with one relaxation time. The Laplace transform with respect to time is used. The inversion process is carried out using a numerical method based on a Fourier series expansion. Numerical results are compared with those of the corresponding coupled problem.
