Abstract

The integration of the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, and machine learning (ML) is revolutionizing many engineering sectors. Thus, preparing electrical engineering stu-dents for this rapidly evolving technological landscape is crucial. However, there is currently a lack of practical, hands-on educational approaches in these domains. Therefore, this research aims to study the impact of a teaching approach that employs an emulation tool, providing a realistic interplay between IoT, big data, and ML on the learning experience of electrical engineering students. The impact is studied by conducting a survey comparing the students' knowledge and hands-on experience before and after engagement with the emulation tool. The survey findings indicate that this approach effectively enhances students' knowledge and enriches their learning experience.
