Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (" AI") plays a significant role in improving our quality of life in different areas. However, the emergence of this technology may give rise to considerable difficulties at a conceptual level especially regarding the fit between law and technology. This paper thus explores the main doctrinal questions posed by the advent of AI in the areas of electronic commerce and autonomous vehicles. Furthermore, this paper critically examines the main approaches that have been advanced to deal with intelligent software programs. It also proposes the gradual approach as a way of overcoming the difficulties of such programs. It does so by adopting different standards of responsibility depending on whether the action is completed autonomously by an unattended software, or whether it is completed automatically by an attended software.
