Abstract

Healthcare services have greatly changed with the rapid evolution of advancements in information technology. Different technologies such as blockchain and IoTA tangle have contributed to the enhancement of healthcare services provided and to the advancement of the healthcare sector. Such technologies aimed to enhance several aspects such as interoperability between used healthcare information systems, information security and privacy, scalability, and tamper-proof communication. This chapter reviews recent approaches to the integration of blockchain and IoTA tangle to build secure, robust, efficient, and risk-free healthcare networks. The chapter presents a possible integration of blockchain and IoTA tangle in a smart healthcare framework. It clarifies the difference in the use cases of blockchain and IoTA tangle in the healthcare sector and proposes a healthcare framework that will serve future research.
