Abstract

We proposed metamaterial absorber having multi-type split coin resonator based on resistive loads. The numerical simulation results and experimental measurements indicate that broad band absorption with a ratio over 80% can be achieved between 3 and 8 GHz for transverse electromagnetic (TEM) polarization wave at normal incident. Besides, proposed structure is insensitive for incident angle. The electric field and surface current distributions in the absorber are investigated to understand characteristic of absorptivity. In terms of energy harvesting application, proposed structure has 82.21% absorption efficiency and 46.07% harvesting efficiency in totally. The proposed structure can be improved for some practical applications, such as energy harvesting, stealth technology and sensing due to significant features. Furthermore, proposed structure can be used in other frequency regions such as infrared, optical region and terahertz.
