Abstract

This paper develops and illustrates a new heuristic approach for the capacitated single machine lot sizing problem, incorporating more realistic features such as production and storage capacities, as well as sequence dependent setups that consume regular prodcution capacity in a batch production environm,ent. A decision support framework to operationalize this heuristic approach in industry is formulated, and a numerical example included to clarify computational requirements.
