N2 - Currently, the vehicles connectivity in transportation industry is becoming our new normal. In this paper, we focus on discussing the enhancement required in autonomous vehicles communication. An overview of the journey from WiFi to cellular based V2X communication is provided. The communication enablers in terms of gains and adoption strategies of cellular based communication is discussed in particular. Readers are walked through the technical features and available platforms/solutions in this regard. To help comprehend better the aforementioned concepts, this work also provides details on the PC-5 and DSRC specification and its working principles. Next, we provide the practical implementation of the PC-5 and DSRC devices in lab. We believe the contents herein will equip the readers with a good start for hands-on. We also believe the configuration setup and implementation details will serve and assist the autonomous driving research and development.
