Abstract
The reduction of organic matter during water treatment seems to be the most promising way to reduce THM-formation. Integrating microbiological steps as there are slow sand or biological activated carbon filtration will lower the amount of easily biodegradable organics which are responsible for the regrowth in the distribution net. The application of ozonation before a biological step will increase the amount of biodegradable substances.
