Abstract

Solar stills desalinate saline water affordably and conveniently. The current study proposes a new solar still design to optimize the performance of a passive inclined solar still using thermoelectric generators and phase change material. The dissipated heat is stored in phase change material and utilized for distillation during the evening and night to increase the yield of the solar still. The proposed solar still with Thermoelectric generator modules has the potential to produce drinkable water from groundwater while generating electricity. The temperature difference between the solar still and the phase change material generates electricity using thermoelectric generators. The proposed modification can be applied to both passive and active solar still systems.
