Abstract

The paper uses 3D printing technology to produce 3D geometry models for educational purposes in a Mechanics of Materials course; namely to test the failure of bolted joints under single and double shear. The advantages and limitations of using 3D printing technology are discussed, in addition to providing real-life examples to verify the proposed experimental procedures.
