Abstract
An important apriori step in system identification and control problems is the detection of the presence of nonlinearities in system dynamics. In this paper we give some preliminary results related to the detection of a quadratic nonlinearity in dynamic systems. It is shown that the presence of such nonlinearities can be detected by computing a third order statistics of the output sequence.
