Dual-Band Band-Pass Filter Design Using Open Loop Resonators for Satellite Communication

Abstract

In this paper we present the design and simulation of a Dual-Band Band-Pass filter for Satellite Communication application. The filter operates at frequencies 1.16 GHz (L-band) and 3.45 GHz (S-band). For this design, we used slotted ring resonator method to develop the filter first band resonance. Then the coupled line technique is used to introduce the second band resonance. The substrate used in this design is FR-4 with relative permittivity of 3.65 and 1.6 mm thickness. Measurement results of the fabricated samples are in good agreement with the simulated results. This study is applicable to satellite communication L and S bands.
