Abstract

The dynamics of an offshore tower is represented by a multidegree of freedom model. The model allows for nonlinear behaviour of the soil beneath the structure. The soil structure interaction is modelled as nonlinear complex stiffness. Effects of interaction nonlinearity on model vibration characteristics are investigated by using perturbation techniques. Modifications in the resonant frequencies and existence of harmonics due to nonlinearity are proved. The results are applied to an application example of a massive deep water gravity structure.
