    Abstract

Experiments were conducted in a glasshouse to investigate the effects of plant growth regulators mefluidide, paclo butrazol, trinexapac-ethyl, and ethephon on 'Kentucky 31' Festuca arundinacea rooting characteristics, root water extraction from soil with increasing depth, and evapotranspiration rate. Ethephon had the most detrimental effect of any PGR on maximum rooting depth, root length density with increasing profile depth, total root length and root water extraction from soil.
