Abstract

This book chapter is in the aim to disclose the ways to achieve high electrical conductivity and great mechanical strength for electro-conductive membrane. In beginning part, this chapter tends to discuss about the electrical characteristics of conductive membranes, to understand their essential role in reacting molecules and compounds for achieving targeted separation purposes with the supports from current reported research works. In latter part, it would correlate the membrane electrical property with some mechanical factors, and finally followed by the deep discussion on mechanical property, to reveal their importance in strengthening performance of conductive membranes for their ultimate application use. Nevertheless, the properties improvement for electro-conductive membrane discussed in this chapter is not bound or limited by the employment of potential technologies from other fields, while by having balanced electrical and mechanical characteristics for optimal filtration performance.
