Abstract
Epoxy resins are widely been used in modern industries, ranging from adhesives, microelectronic materials to matrices for advanced fiber reinforced composites, from past few decades. Besides several advantages, epoxy displays certain limitations which constraint its advanced and high performance applications. Several effective attempts and efforts have been made by researchers in order to modify the epoxies by the incorporation of fibers and fillers through hybridization. Hybridized epoxies display extensive and great diversity as required in the field of electronic packaging, automotive and space research industries with enhanced properties of superior mechanical strength, flame retardancy, thermal stability, chemical resistivity, low thermal expansion coefficients, and dielectric constant with minimal shrinking stress. Present article designed to be a comprehensive source of exclusive study on epoxy modification through hybridization and its diverse industrial applications. This review article also aims to cover the recent advances in epoxy based polymer hybrid nanocomposites and their applications.
