Abstract
Thirty patients with psychogenic impotency, defined as the incapacity to obtain a penile erection, or to maintain a penile erection were submitted to a complete medical and psychological investigation. An interview with the patient's spouse (or stable sexual partner) was conducted to ascertain with her the severity of the patient's sexual impotence, the frequency of sexual relationships, the absence or presence of vaginismus or frigidity and explain the follow up of the study. The patients have received placebo pills for a month. They were evaluated with their spouse about sexual parameters. The study shows a real placebo effect, and a difference between patient's evaluation and spouse's appreciation.
