Abstract
This pilot project investigates the farming practices of the Western Farming Region of the United Arab Emirates, a region not previously researched. The area is defined with background details as to common farming practices and government strategies to assist the local farming population. A survey instrument was distributed to further understand the methods of farming, the number of workers, employed, type and value of crops and marketing information. Binary logistic regression was used to analyze data collected from the survey and develop a predictive model to determine the main variables conducive to farming methodology; specifically, whether farmers engage in open field farming or farming that includes open fields and greenhouses or greenhouses only. This research lays the foundation for further investigation of farming practises and the marketing of agricultural products.
