Abstract

In this paper we consider a scheme of packet scheduling for the forward link of a MIMO cellular system, to increase system capacity by exploiting multiuser diversity based on spatial multiplexing (SM). The proposed scheme exhibits considerable increases in system capacity compared to commonly used schemes, while, at the same time, giving a fair chance of channel access to all users regardless of their channel fading status.
