Abstract

This chapter discusses the scientific literature on the introduction of nanotechnology as nanocarriers in cosmetic formulation, which involves the application of nanomaterials in cosmetic production. First, this chapter describes general knowledge about the importance of active agents, explaining their composition and mechanism in delivery system as well as the antioxidant reaction toward human skin. In the following sections, different forms of delivery systems (nanocarriers) are discussed, covering the preparation process (formulation), release ability for active agents, and the ultimate influencing efficiency on skin. Nonetheless, the context of nanotechnology is not bound and limited by the use of potential technologies from other related fields, with the aim to maintain the advantages, biocompatibility, and safety for cosmetic consumers.
