Abstract

A class of discrete time stochastic Petri nets, called Manufacturing Networks, is studied in this paper. They are particularly suited for modeling synchronization and serialization. Applications include modeling for layered architecture software synchronization and serialization, multihop radio network path modeling and manufacturing system modeling. Since manufacturing networks are, in general, analytically intractable, a variety of special cases are examined. An iterative algorithm, based on one developed previously for space division packet switches, is applied to the particular case of multihop radio network modeling.
