Abstract

Nanofluids play a fundamental role as coolants for better heat transfer rate to attain efficient cooling of radiator system. Nanofluids are characterized by enhanced thermal and heat transfer properties. This book chapter highlights the gains of nanofluids and its advancement as coolants for automotive coolants. The chapter initiates with the introduction of automotive coolants and nanofluids. The section includes the efficiency of nanofluid coolants, engine cooling circuit, and a review of nanofluid coolants for automotive applications. Numerical and experimental studies of different researchers related to nanofluid performance in automotive radiators have been presented. This chapter suggests challenges and future directions for researchers to investigate further for the development of nanofluid-based coolants.
