Abstract
This paper presents the numerical flow visualization of laminar, two dimensional, viscous, incompressible fluid flows. The Finite Analytic Numerical Method is used to solve the Navier-Stokes equations in primitive variable formulation. An interactive computer code based on the Finite Analytic Numerical Solution is programmed to run on the DN3000 Apollo personal workstation. The program entitled FANS-2 (Finite Analytic Numerical Simulation-2 Dimensional Flow) is designed to be an interactive menu driven program for the user specifying the geometrical shape, the grid spacing which can be either uniform or nonuniform, and boundary conditions. The numerical flow visualization starts with the verification of FANS-2 with simple driven cavity flows. Then the FANS-2 code is used to predict internal flows with complex geometries. The Finite Analytic numerical solution and FANS-2 code are shown to provide the user with accurate flow visualization of various complex flow problems in a short execution time.
