Abstract

We discuss the existence and non-uniqueness of solutions of the modified Falkner-Skan equation which is governed by the two parameters λ and β. The solution is studied over the range of |β| ≤ 1 and for various values of λ. It is shown (mainly numerically) that for each β in this range there exists a critical value λc(β) such that two solutions exist for 0 < λ< λ c(β), and one solution exists for λ= λ c(β), and no solution exists for λ > λc(β). When β = -1, it is shown that two solutions exist only if λ < -1.
