N2 - Electric vehicle (EV) is considered as one of the best solution for future automobile industry because of its unique characteristics such as energy saving, lower noise and a reduction of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. The optimal placement of charging station (CS) is important for widespread deployment of EVs. Therefore, this paper proposes an optimization approach for the optimal allocation of rapid CS (RCS) which considers travelling loss, build-up and substation energy loss cost. The binary firefly algorithm (BFA) is applied to minimize the daily total cost by determining the optimal location of RCS. The outcomes show that the suggested method can determine the optimal location and sizing of RCS that can help EV users, RCS developers and power grid.
