Abstract

In this paper, a strategy is used to design the sensor network for the vehicle active suspension. This study determines the minimal number of sensors and their location such that system's observability is ensured. The system consists of a chassis, four wheels and four force actuators. The strategy is based on the decomposition of the system into five interconnected subsystems. This decomposition helps in treating each subsystem separately and allows the use of reduced order observers rather than a large scale observer for the overall system.
