Abstract
This study aims to inverstigate groundwater levels and improve water quality in the northwestern part of Hafeet Mountain, Al-Ain Region, United Arab Emirates (UAE) using Electrical Resisitivity Tomogrphy (ERT), Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) and Electrical Sounder (ES) measurements. These techniques can provide valuable information about the subsurface characteristics and help identify potential groundwater accumulation areas. The study proposes the implementation of a filtering network to purify the water from probable amounts of rainfall and partially saturated water bodies. This network could be designed to remove impurities, pollutants and sedimentation, ensuring a clean water supply. The suitable locations that detected by geophysical survey could serve as suitable locations for the instillation of wells, through which artificially injected clean water can recharge the aquifer. By incresing groundwater reserves and enhancing water quality, this approch aims to protect the rare rainfall from surface pollution and evaportion. It provides a sustainable solution for maintaining and improving the availability of freshwater recourses in the studey area. It is worth noting that the successful implementation of such a plan would require careful planning, including hydrological studies, water quality monitoring, Local stakeholders, including governmental water management authorities, and environmetal agencies, should be involved in the decision - making process to ensure the effectivencess and feasibility of the proposed measures.
