Abstract

Elastic modulus and Possion's ratio are two main parameters of the elastic properties of the rocks which are required for many engineering projects. These parameters may be estimated for both static and dynamic tests. The lab measurements for two different rocks samples of carbonate (limestone) and evaporite (gypsum) that collected from specific sites at the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Comparasion of the elestic moduli and Possion's ratios that obtained from laboratory measurements by static and dynamic methods, have been used to characterize these rock samples.
