Abstract
This paper concentrates on the hitherto ignored long-range correlations in neutral two-dimensional Fermi systems, embodied in the ring diagrams or polarization insertions. It turns out that their effects are crucial regarding the quasiparticle lifetime, but marginal so far as the effective mass and single-particle energies are concerned. It also sheds some light on the effective interaction due to these correlations.
