Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

This paper addresses certain considerations that the United Arab Emirates should take into account as it is regulating investment in outer space. The paper concentrates on a central element in that which is regulating intellectual property rights in outer space. The paper invokes international treaties governing the exploration of outer space and the principles applicable to this exploration and offers a balanced approach on protecting intellectual property rights in outer space while still complying with international law. The paper argues that there is a duty on private parties too to comply with public international norms and that state intervention to secure such compliance is possible under international law.
