N2 - The construction industry plays a major role in the UAE economy. As the residential segment accounts for the largest element in the industry with rapid urban growth and increased demand in this sector, the adoption of time and costefficient technologies becomes increasingly important to overcome the different challenges in the construction industry. Precast concrete has proven to be one of the most promising prefabricated systems to address this gap through its numerous benefits and it's taking global attention as an ideal solution for the residential segment. However, despite its benefits and governmental direction for its adoption in housing projects, end-users are highly reluctant to adopt this technology in their single houses. This study aims to investigate and observe the different reasons behind the reluctance toward the adoption of precast. It follows a quantitative approach by forming a questionnaire survey to consultants and construction professionals in Abu Dhabi as it is a major city for the residential sector. Findings indicate that the main reasons behind the lack of precast utilization in end-users houses are cost, limited design flexibility, aesthetics, and resistance to changing the conventional methods.
