Abstract
The applicability of the multimode Brownian oscillator (MBO) model to high-resolution linear electronic absorption spectra of chromophores in solid hosts at low temperatures was reported. The MBO model with Ohmic dissipation was used to interpret photon echo and spectral data on solvation dynamics of chromophores in liquids at room temperature. It was shown that Franck-Condon factors of the zero-phonon line (ZPL) obtained with the underdamped MBO (UMBO) model differed from those calculated with the conventional formula.
