Abstract
The transmission of ATM traffic over optical CDMA links using orthogonal codes is evaluated in terms of cell loss/error probability under the conditions of varying offered load with different traffic burstiness. The results have demonstrated the acceptable performance for such a system. However, the key advantage of such a system is minimal delay, asynchronous access and relative simplicity of switching at ATM level in contrast to ATM traffic over SDH.
