N2 - Physical and chemical tests were conducted to study the quality of drinking water of Rawal Lake and its surrounding areas. These areas included Chattar, Village Starrran Mile, Sadam Hotel and B liar a Kahu. A total of forty samples were collected, out of which eight samples were taken from Chattar to Bhara Kahu and the rthirty-two samples were at different points of Rawal Lake. The estimation of different parametersin the water samples was determined by titrimetry (for alkalinity, water hardness, DO, BOD and chloride ion) and UV/Visible Spectrophotometer methods (for nitrate, phosphate, sulphate and COD). Biological analysis was also performed. The concentration range for chloride lied between 11-27 mg/L, whereas for phosphate, this range was from 0.05-0.2 mg/L. Likewise, the nitrate values varied from 0.1-13 mg/L and the sulphate concentration lied between 11-62 mg/L. The values were compared with standards of World Health Organization (WHO) and all the parameters were found within the permissible limits expect the turbidity values and value of nitrate for one sample (13 mg/L as compared to the standard value of 10 mg/L).
