Abstract

Tunable voltage controlled oscillators (VCO's) are expected to be useful in enhancing the multi-band programmability of wired/wireless communication terminals. A voltage tunable oscillator employing barium strontium titanate (BST) tunable capacitor is presented. The utilized BST tunable capacitor shows a tuning of 20% at 35 GHz. The oscillation frequency of the voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) is tuned from 34.40 GHz to 36 GHz, tuning of 5% (i.e. absolute tuning of 1.6 GHz) with the application of 30 volts tuning voltage.
